Retired Grumpy Old Man (lol). Currently own 2008/9 T5 4motion 128kw 400nm SWB Caravelle, 2010 Skoda Surperb Elegance, 2002 Rover 75. Previously 1989 T3 Syncro fitted as a camper by Islander (Tas). Did the around Australia trip in 1996. 36000km at a cost of $1 per km. Engine blown twice. First a broken head bolt - 400 km from Perth. Second (150km NW of Mt Isa)a stone under the bottom pulley shredding the belt driving the water pump and badly overheating the engine - so hot in fact that the alloy head had melted away from the valve seats. So over $12000 in engine repairs for both. Interestingly both Perth and Mt Isa had German trained VW specialists.
