I have inherited my father’s love of the VW. As a German he wanted to own every German car. Only in his final years he thought he should spend his whole life savings and pay just over $7000 in 1977 and buy a new Mk 1 Golf GLS auto. A lot of money in those days. I still have that car. Sadly I may have to part with it soon. I now have a 2006 tdi Golf mk5 and one of my daughters has just bought a 2.0l 2003 mk 4. I had a manual 2002 Polo for awhile..hopeless engine..it used to die on hill starts with air-con on.
