I'm sitting in a motel room by the beach in Esperance, WA, after working from Kalgoorlie to Laverton to Leonora to Norseman now Esperance and back to Perth in a couple of days.

I'm not in any particular mood to go through the newbie trials and tribulations.

I'm also grumpy because I've just paid for my Skoda Octavia RS230 wagon, which has agonised me to no small extent as I have a perfectly good Toyota Corolla Sportivo which is currently eyeballing me derisively outside. Long story short it is to remain in the Goldfields region as my 'hire car'.

A larger car is required to accommodate my growing family...

On a positive note, I did get to choose my licence plate which ends with 360; quite poignant I think though I'm not sure the salesman comprehended the irony!

Time for a walk along the beach, I think.

Congrats on the new Ride, I've driven a chipped RS147's and that was plenty powerful enough already!
Admit the 360 reference goes over my newbie head.
What are you doing for work travelling around like that?

I pick up the RS230 on Monday all going well.
The plate is 1GET360 - which to me translates to "I get turned around" - reference to a wheel or spinning 360 degrees! I just couldn't resist!
I travel around as a visiting medical/health specialist - your tax dollars doing some good

Sunroof and tech pack but no heated seat or power tailgate. I *might* have optioned the tailgate, but it was a case of stock availability and beggars can't be choosers! Nonetheless, I discovered a while back that I'm perfectly capable of opening and closing a boot manually.

Heated seats in Perth, well, not strictly necessary!
