Welcome to the forum.
Why don't you start a thread in the MK2 section, we'd love to see some pix and what your plans are.
There's some quick MK2's on your side of the country including Australia's only Rallye.
Cheers
Paul
Hi,
just bought a mk2 very cheap that didn't get very far! I t's a 1.8 auto GL ex- Japan. Next step is fault-finding and then deciding on the road to take. Fan of VWs for years, current aircooled driver as well but always liked the look of mk1 &2s. Had one in UK so when I saw this one I thought may as well. That's about it!

Cheers for the reply - yes , saw that Rallye at the Day of the VW - didnt realise it was the only one in Aust.! Very nice! Plans are vague at the moment - waiting on really checking it this weekend. Then deciding if its a repair, engine swap or move it onto someone who wants to. Not sure what the market for granny spec autos are!
Why not find a cheap 2 litre 5 speed MK3 and swap all the mechanicals then sell off the MK3 body.
That would give you a sweet MK2 to play with.
