Thankfully the timing chain and gears are covered by my warranty, I'll get on the phone to euro when they open and go from there.

So if I pay $300 they'll do what is essentially a pre-purchase check and they'll check the timing chain at the same time and give me a report

Yep they are good guys and know this problem perfectly and how to fix it properly (not cutting corners). I have a 125kw petrol with 155k km and they will do it soon.

I would also get them to replace all fluids and oils so you know where you are. Assume nothing has been done in 10 years.

Do not expect warranty to pay for this chain and tensioner repair. It’s like asking them to pay for new brakes. Warranty is there if something breaks but they also have lots of ways to escape. May as well try though.

Luckily I'm not adverse to getting consumer protection involved when I know what I'm entitled to, they're currently going after the dealership for me because my clutch slave cylinder died on a Saturday afternoon and they refused to pay for the first tow that I had to get home since I wasn't going to leave the car on the Cedric street off ramp for a day and a half.... They should have just paid me the $99 it would have saved a black mark against the business.

Good luck and now is the time to try because once you performance modify it I’m sure warranty will be void.

I’m very keen to hear the update on this?
