    Cool VW Tiguan Newbie

    Hi All,

Bought my 2011 Tiguan one year ago which is my first car and I couldn't love it more already! As a engineering graduate I always like play around with machines, so of course I'd love to do services (not all) for my car by myself and looking forward to learn more about that 'iron beauty', therefore I come here : ) thanks

    Alex

    Welcome to the forum.

What model/specs is your Tig? Any planned upgrades?

Suggest as a first stop to look at the sticky threads in the Tiguan forum as there is a heap of useful info there.

Its a 2011 125TSI Tiguan with 7-speed DSG and upgraded 18'' New york wheels. I have read most of those threads already. Im currently interested in replacing the old plastic skid plate with a metal one (see the pictures I attached), I have read some threads talking about this but haven't got a solid answer about whether this metal skid plate will fit on Australian model yet. Also, Im thinking about getting a RNC510 with a reverse camera function. Apart from that, Im looking forward to know more about APR stages as well, but Im little worried about that might push the engine hard and shorten its life.

    Welcome, im in east brissy

Definitely go with an APR tune .. many of these cars are heavily detuned from factory and APR tunes are extensively tested before being sent to our world..

Good to see another Brissy based Tiguan.
Hope we can get you out to some of our events.

I did the RNS510 install and it is easy as pie.
I also have gone with APR and would reccomend them if you are looking at a performance boost.

Sounds great, any idea about how much does it cost to tune a 2011 125TSI 7 speed DSG into APR stage 1?

Yea, I have heard their reputation, the last thing stop me to do that is I'm worried about it might push the stock engine over its limit and shorten its life...plus the re-sale value after you get it tuned.
