VW losing power after recall

Just wondering if people out there are having a loss of power in VW after the 23r7 recall. Did mine a week ago and now my car is sluggish in low gear and has no power to change into gear at the lights. Eventually it works after going into high RPM. Took tommy mechanic and he said he found no fault so must be a software issue.

The "software issue' is that the updated software has reduced your engines power. Not much you can do about it now unfortunately unless you get a tuning box or aftermarket tune - many people are ignoring the recall because they know the outcome will be a reduction in power.

You might want to consider starting a discussion with your VW dealer and if necessary state department of fair trading. All the paperwork that you have received about the recall from VW Australia has stated in black and white that the software "update" will have no impact on performance or fuel economy. If you can demonstrate that it has (ie ideally have performance data before and after the update) then they are technically in breach of your rights under Australian consumer rights laws.

What model and year vehicle do you have?

It's a 2008 TDI Tiguan. I didn't get any performance checks before the recall, so I guess it's my word against there's. my mechanic said they need to reprogram the software. I'm basically left at the lights in snail mode until it kicks into gear. Has never happened before.

I had the software update done on my 2012 Tiguan as part of my 45K/3Yr service in Feb 2017. I didn't notice any difference at first, but the loss of power became more apparent a few days later. I then started to notice the car idling a lot rougher/louder and also jittering when switching the car off.

The start/stop function (fuel saving feature) failed to start a couple of times while stopped at a red light and the coil warning light began flashing on the dash. I had to put the car back in park and then turn the key to start the car up again, all the while people beeping their horns at me as I wasn't moving and couldn't figure out what just happened. When I switched the car off and then turned it back on, it cleared the coil warning light and I thought all was ok... But just this afternoon, the start/stop function failed again and now my 'check engine' light is staying on. I called up VW who said that this issue wouldn't be related to the emission fix and that I should avoid driving the car and to take the car in for a diagnostic check which will cost $160. Earliest my nearest VW servicing centre could book me in was next week.

There's a facebook group called 'The Volkswagen Diesel Customer Forum (Emissions Scandal) which I recommend you join. Plenty of other VW diesel owners experiencing problems with loss of power, Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valves and Diesel Particulate Filters after having the supposed 'fix'.

Maurice Blackburn Lawyers and Bannister Law are running a class action against VW as many more owners are experiencing similar problems. If I get fobbed off by VW (which I'm sure I will) and have to fork out more money in fixing this issue, I will register with Maurice Blackburn and be part of their class action against VW. I've never had a pleasant experience with VW customer service and always feel like they are ripping me off.

I've been a VW fan all my life, but sadly this has changed and am very dissatisfied with their product and dishonesty to their loyal customers.
