Hey,
Newbie here to the VW world.
Have an issue with a B6 Passat Estate and while being locked up in isolation and with plenty of time on my hands, thought I'd give it a go at fixing it myself and anyone and everyone for any assistance.
It's an issue with the auto-tailgate locking ie it won't stay shut. I've read a few posts around the web about this but they don't seem to match my issue or I don't understand what they are saying
So pushing the buttons opens/closes the tail gate without an issue. But when closed the latch doesn't keep it closed, I can just pull it open. I've pulled off the interior so I've been able to simulate an opening/closing and the jam is still moving correctly.
What I don't know is what keeps the lock locked if you know what I mean. Does the lock stay closed keeping the tail gate closed until it receives another signal from a button or is it controlled at another module ie a constant 12v or something being sent to the lock keeps it closed and the buttons to open/close simply turn on and off the signal?
In the end I just want to make sure I don't go out and waste my money on a new (apparently auto-tailgate locks are rare in Aus) one from VW if the issue is a module somewhere else or something completely different.
Once again, hi all and thanke for any help
