Tough decision // Passat R36 or Passat CC (2009-12).

    Hi all,

Looking at picking up either a R36 Passat or Passat CC (3.6) in the near future.

My dilemma is that I believe I can get a newer CC with better features for essentially the same (or even less) money, but I don't want the handling to let me down. The R36 is a little more dated, generally a bit harder to find a low-KM model, but from what I have read, a heap more fun to drive. Also, is there any known issues with either model that are worth knowing whilst looking at cars for sale?

So, anyone out there want to argue the case for either?

    Thanks!

My father drives a CC V6 and an 8V S3. He loves his CC, and finds it plenty entertaining with the dampers in sport. I think it's a great piece of kit too, although it does feel like a large car; I've not driven an R36 but have driven a couple of regular Passat sedans, and they do feel a bit smaller.

Just to make things fun, I'm thinking of an R32 or Scirocco R now too....Bit worried by the DSG issues so thinking of a manual version of either...
