Touareg i-pod adaptor

Hi team, first post. Bought 09 Touareg V6TDI last year with i-pod adaptor which connects in place of 6 stacker CD. Connects i-pod (classic) ok and plays music but provides little info on vehicle screen. No song name, artist just refers to title 1,2 etc. Appears I can change playlists by selecting CD1-6 but that's about it. Any experience out there that can verify or assist?
