Tiguan Allspace Mods

Hi fellow forum users,
I've been viewing the VW forum since before I purchased my 2018 Tiguan Allspace R-Line back in June. Absolutely love the car and haven't had a real issues at all. But since owning this car it does lack in the engine performance and sound side of things, so I've decided to do something about it! Car now has almost 30000kms on it's daily driven.

Just need some advice from you experienced modders. I have also contacted some tuners but getting results on mod and KW's and not sure if it's correct. Is my car based on the MK7 Golf R or GTi?

I would like to get have the following done:

CTS Intake (or similar)
CTS Downpipe and HI flow Cat (or similar)
Redirected BOV
ECU & DSG tune

I've heard good things (through O/S mates) and read about the JB4 plug & play from this forum, which I like the idea off. Especially for warranties as I still have 3 years left and it is also my first new car.

What mod's won't void my warranty or all of the above will anyway?

I'm a little stuck in deciding whether stage 1 just a tune or stage 2 (as above) or 3 (bigger turbo and cooler)?
I'm looking getting these done in the next few weeks. Do you have any success or regrets with any tuners in Melbourne?

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Hey Ray,

Firstly congratulations on your purchase!

I'm guessing that because you have the R-line it's the 162TSI motor? If so then it's the same as the standard Tiguan 162TSI and Mk7 Golf GTI. Also Mk7 R turbo is a direct bolt-on so there's some good upgrades that are available off-the-shelf.

Yes it is the 162kw highline with the R-Line package.

I have read those articles already, that's why I'm so eager to get this done. Looks like some great figures from some decent mods.

Does anyone know of any other Allspaces that have done these mods that I'm wanting to do?

OK as far as Allspace there's not so many people modifying. I think this is likely due to the fact that they are still newer.

The only thing that is different is that the car is stretched in the middle so the doors are longer. This will effect the exhaust and length of pipe for the cat-back section.

Ok I can understead that, I hardly ever see any Allspaces here in Melb and I drive all over Vic.

I guess a custom cat back is needed.

I think you could use the same Mk7 R rear section that others have used but you may need to get an extension put in at an exhaust shop. It wouldn't be a big thing but something you'd have to check if the Tiguan and Allspace exhausts are similar/same.

This is the problem I'm facing that no one seems to know the differences as the Allspace is relatively new in Australia anyway. May have to search overseas forums etc. This can be added at a later date though. Would have to end tips in black to match the blanking plate and black parts on body kit.
Guess for now I will concentrate on the specs that I want done after my 30000kms service (next month). Besides that, I'm waiting on another quotation on the specs needed, then pick out of the 3.

US has the Allspace too but not many people doing exhaust mods.

I’d suggest if you can find a Mk7 R rear section that you see if you can test fit it and/or lay it next to the stock exhaust to check the mounting points.

Keep in mind that the Allspace and standard Tiguan get built in different factories so it’s possible that the exhaust suppliers/design are different.

I’d be getting under the car and checking out all the mounting points as well as the routing for the exhaust to see if it’s similar at least. But yes you’ll be doing some pioneering work so be prepared to do some extra leg work/ take measurements off your car for the mounting points etc before committing.

Other thing is if you do source a Mk7 R exhaust and it doesn’t fit/work for whatever reason just sell it to another Tiguan owner.

I'll try tomorrow (if not next weekend) under the car to measure up and take some pics. I may even speak to some exhaust places and see if they can provide the measurements on the Mk7 rear section to compare. Could be a long-winded process but hey guess everyone starts somewhere... Worse case scenario is to fly my mate from the UK and have him retro fit one for me ��

I'll also check the asian websites, hopefully their valuable information is in English.
