    Skoda on Order, Golf Owner

    Hi Guys,
Thought I would join the Forums as I have just taken the plunge to endure the wait for a Skoda Octavia RS.
The boss lady drives a Gen V Golf TDI, so I can lay claim to VW as well !

The Octy is on order and I have to wait till Feb / March. (Or at least that is what they are telling me. But hey, my 3.0rb Subaru Liberty will have to do until then.

Welcome to the site. Seems like the Octavia, particularly the new RS, is snagging a lot of first-time Skoda owners. Hopefully, it leads to bigger things for the brand here in Australia.
Now gone.... 2012 Skoda Fabia RS

  3. Hi GeeMatt, I've just joined this forum too. I too am waiting for an Octavia RS, mine is the TSI wagon. I placed my order mid July. And now the wait..

You'll find a lot of Skoda owners have come from Subaru. Esp the Gen4 Liberty.

I used to think I was anal-retentive until I started getting involved in car forums

It seems so. The dealer commented that he was seeing a lot of Subie owners.
It's 'cos the current Liberty (and next one) is crap. No wagon, CVT, no sportiness, looks ugly ....
There is not much around to upgrade to. I looked at S60 4wd Volvo (too dear) Passat (boring and FSI expensive) Golf (too small for golf clubs ! irony ) and not much else to excite. Octy RS appealed straight away, especially the diesel although I ended up going petrol + manual !

I just hope I don't miss the AWD of the Subie !

yep, another ex-Subaru owner after 17 yrs driving Liberty wagons and tinkering with Golf's on the side.

We went over to the Octavia Scout because of all the reasons Subaru has lost it's way (no Liberty Wagon, Outback is to 4wd looking, CVT only on most models and Forester feels and looks cheap).

Our latest Subaru has been ours since new in 2002 and has been a really great car, but we can't stand auto/CVT/DSG and want and are willing to pay for a wellbuilt car with a real gearbox.
