RNS510 - Steering Wheel Control of Track Changes on iPod and HDD

    Hi

I'm new to the forum being a proud owner of a Mk6 Golf GTI. Wondering if someone can help.

I have the RNS510 installed with the Media In iPod cable attached but am not able to change tracks on either the iPod or HDD media devices using the steering wheel controls. It works OK from the head unit itself. The left and right buttons on the left side of the steering wheel do nothing (and I might add nor does the voice activated button on the steering wheel).

I saw something on the site about vagcom and code 37 and a recent cnet review clearly set out that the RNS510 had that functionality, but the dealer tells me the buttons can only change radio stations. Bit bizarre to me - I have just come out of a Mazda which has had that capability for 5 years, and more.

Any help or guidance would be appreciated.

    Welcome to the forums mate.

Your dealer is having a lend - this functionality is definitely a standard feature of the MDI connected to an iPod. Post your question in the VW Car Audio and Electronics forum; someone will help you to determine the specific problem, and the coding required to fix it!
