    Return to VW and Queensland

    Howdy,
I’ve recently returned to both southeast Queensland and the VWWatercooled forum having just picked up a 2018 Golf R manual in Lapiz Blue. I was previously pretty active on the forums and frequently attended the QLD happy laps in my mildly modified 9N Polo GTI.
Looking forward to getting back out and about for some drives!

    Welcome back chrishelliwell
Took you long enough to come back lol
I guess you know Gav and his Squib the Red N9 GTi and happy laps?
    I had a 2008 Black N9 GTi stage 2 very similar to your 2006.
I traded my Polo on my 2019 MY20 Golf R Wagon.
    Cheers Al

    Welcome back Chris!

I loved my 9N GTI and still miss it today. Also in a manual 2018 R in Lapiz Blue now Its probably the best car I have ever owned .... and that says a lot given what I had over the years.

We really need to get Happy Laps going again.

    Thanks Al, Sharkie,

I did have a brief run in a mkVI GTI a few years ago but ended up crossing over into the BMW world with an m240i most recently and definitely agree that the R is the best car I’ve owned. Although it doesn’t have the straight line performance of the m240, the versatility, grip and feel of the manual just make it for me.
I’ve got an exhaust on the way and will slowly start chipping away at the textbook mods and am hoping to start getting into the street springs at lakeside.
+100 for re-invigorating happy laps, I have some great memories from those events!
