Potential Mk6 GTI owner
So I signed up several years ago out of general interest and never made a post (though I know a couple of members here from other forums/past cars they have owned).
After 9 odd years driving about in a 1995 Mazda 626 (V6, with a bunch of mild mods) I realised late last year that this car would probably kill me and/or start eating into my savings given something major needs fixing/rebuilding every year. My initial intention was to get a 4th Gen Liberty GT Spec B, but I abandoned that idea given most examples are pretty rough and the 5th Gen looks and feels like a Camry.
Then I found Mk6 GTIs were in my price range and ticked most boxes, though it's been hard to find the perfect example for sale locally (I did consider looking interstate).
By chance I spotted a white MY11 sitting in the yard at Osborne Park VW yesterday which I queried about this morning (DSG, cloth trim, 18" Detroits, 30,xxx kms, asking $27,990). Planning to swing by tomorrow for a better look and test drive.
Been reading up over the last couple of weeks, specifically what needs doing at specific service intervals (DSG service @ 60k, etc). Anything I should be wary of for a car that has done so little?

Welcome to VWW Dave!
There's generally nothing out of the ordinary that needs to be looked at with the Mk6 GTI, especially with so few miles - they're a proven and reliable car for the most part. The main items to check for are a rattly timing chain (the tensioner can go on this motor; the part has been redesigned on later builds), and DSG operation (clutch takeoff smoothness, gearchanges etc).

Well I bought the GTI I mentioned above. Apparently I am a hard person to negotiate with.
Picking up on Saturday. Chuffed
