Rear View Camera guiding lines on Polo 2013

Hi all,

I'm after some advice. We just bought a new VW Polo and the dealer installed a SatNav unit and a rear view camera (Motivauto). When the camera is operating it doesn't show the guide lines. I asked the dealer and he said it's not possible to have a camera with guide lines on a Polo. Is that true? Or is there an additional kit that can be installed to enable the guide lines?

Where did he fit the camera as other than the Badge model the numberplate light on is so low you would hardly see anything. The swiveling lines are activated by the steering angle so depending on which model you have he may or may not be correct.

So what model Polo is it A comfortline with or without the comfort pack ?????????

They would have fitted some sort of after market camera as there is no factory options.

What lines are you talking about? Some cameras have fixed lines and some have fixed lines and also bending lines to track the path you need to follow. If you have no lines then the camera they have fitted doesn't have them. If it has fixed lines but not the bending lines then that's the best you will get as you can't fit the OEM highline camera ( which has a seperate control box)

You can retrofit the golf pop out badge which has fixed lines.

Thank you all for the replies. The camera they fitted is from Motivauto (Rear View Camera – Volkswagen | Motivauto Pty Ltd) and it doesn't have any guiding lines (neither fixed nor bending). I will have a look into fitting the Golf pop out badge.

Hope you have deep pockets as they are about $350 plus fitting for an integrated VW one The cheap Ebay models with RCA connectors are $280 and wont connect to an RNS 510

Which Satnav did they fit Is it a VW one or something else.

If its their one how much did that cost as the Genuine ones with HDD etc can be bought for $1200.

You can connect a OEM camera to a stereo with RCA input with the adapter from hear.
ANS-810 / ANS-510 (PROPER RNS-510 alternative)

But as far as im aware there is no conecter from RCA to 26 pin connected so you can't use the replica pop out on the RCD/RNS 510
Unless some one has made one.

I mentioned the RCA one in case OP has one that has an RCA one as he hasnt stated what the Satnav actually is The make of camera he has has a VW lookalike Headunit but not the same so wont know if it works or not.

IMHO a numberplate camera on a POLO would give you a great view of very little other than a bit of road and bugger all else.

I just referenced the thread for the adapter not the ANS810.

Wouldn't touch those eBay ones. Have had 4 guys come to me to install them and not one has worked. 2 went and got the OEM ones after and they worked straight away. All had rns510 and 3 where the 26pin 1 RCA with adapter.

Yea 3 of them. And after seeing that add I think i know why. It says they don't work with sw4020 pretty sure they all had rns510 that where built in 2012. Another one I did was a RCD510 with 26 pin and it flopped as well.
