    Newbie from Brazil

    Hello everyone.

I'm from Brazil, São Paulo city, and I have a Passat B1 year 1988. This car was very successful here and was manufactured for a long time. Today is a classic. My B1 is a "Passat Pointer" (sport type). It has 1.8 engine and manual five-speed gearbox.
At the moment the car is not to look good, but I will restore it. I will do a special job to leave the B1 as brand new. I'll put it here photos of "before and after".

If I wrote the English with mistakes, forgive me.

    Thank you and goodbye.

    Welcome to the forum.

Your English is good and your choice of cars is better. There's not many B1's around anymore so having one from Brazil is something special.

How strong is the VW community in Brazil?

    Hello Volkswagenist.
Thank you very much for replying to my topic.
The Passat B1 here in Brazil is a classic. It's been almost 30 years since the production line stopped, but this car has many fans. We are in a time of recovery of these classics here.
Yes, here in Brazil there are many VW lovers. Very even. The German manufacturer is here in the country since 1950, when it began manufacturing the beetle. See this meeting held recently: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Keg1cVkJxWo

Wow, that meeting looks awesome, so many cars there. Didn't see any MK1 Golfs though, not many in Brazil?

VW didn't sell here the Golf Mk1 and Mk2. Only from the MK3. As a matter of market, I believe, the VW developed the "Gol" for sale in Brazil. The Gol was a great success here. At the beginning, the Gol was offered with engine air-cooled (1.300 located in front). After a few years, has been improved with the engines 1.6, 1.8 and 2.0 liters water cooler.

In this vídeo, you can see the Goal with air cooled engine (1980): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6U6P...&nohtml5=False

Gol 1.8 GT whit water cooled engine (1984): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZTSa...&nohtml5=False

    Gol GTI 2.0 (1989): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IJ0I...&nohtml5=False

The VW Gol is a classic here.
