On Friday afternoon I took delivery of a new Golf Wagon. On Sunday afternoon the car would not start. On Monday it was towed to the nearest service centre where later that day I was told that the instrument cluster had to be replaced. The instrument cluster had to be back ordered and would not be available for 2 weeks because it was not available within Australia. Later I found out that the instrument cluster does not have to undergo any special coding process in the factory to link it to the VIN. Is it acceptable that VW Australia does not have parts on hand for new vehicles which are essential to the mobility of the car? Incidentally, the loan vehicle (equivalent???) for a Golf Wagon was a Toyota Yaris.
