New VW owner with a T4 Synchro

    Hi all!
new Tasmanian member with my first VW...

Ive been a car guy since I was a kid....messed around with old Fords (XY ute, XF, XE, several early Transits....), Peugeots (first car was a 403, also had 404, 604, 405 Mi16, currently got an ultra rare 403 van...), a few Pommy cars (Humber Vogue and Morris Minor van died in the Dunalley bushfire...got a Morris Oxford now), and my main passion of old Volvos (had loads of them, got a 142 coupe, 164E manual, 242 GT coupe, 240 van....family has had dozens between them!), and right now I am into electric vehicles with my wife and I having one each, Mitsubishi i MiEVs.
With a growing family we need a family vehicle with more than four seats, and the Tarago we drove had a thrashy engine, horrible auto, fugly....then I stumbled across our new beast!
1997 LWB Transporter Synchro that has been professionally converted to a ten seat bus.

i have never driven a van so nice....stable...sure footed...I'm in love!

Welcome to the forum carnut. We know it will have a manual trans. but which engine do you have? I can't quite make out the transfer on the drivers door.
Understand how it works, troubleshoot logically BEFORE replacing parts.
