Hey guys, new to this page and keen to join in on the discussions, currently don't own a golf but in the market for a GTI.
Kind Regards,
Cal.
Welcome Duzz,
I have a 2008 Polo Gti great little car with two doors and manual which no longer suits us. So the logical upgrade is the Golf GTi and R.
MIght be a good time to buy with the Golf MK8 due next year and the well sorted Golf MK7.5 models.
VW Australia Special Offers valid until 30th September 2019 - MY19 Model Clearance

~Manufacturer’s recommended campaign driveaway price for new MY19 vehicles sold and delivered by 30/09/2019. Private buyers only. Excludes other offers. Options and metallic paint may be available for an additional cost. While stocks last. Volkswagen Group Australia reserves the right to extend, withdraw or change all offers.
*5 Year Warranty available on new vehicles sold from 1 January 2019 (warranty on demonstrator vehicles only applies for the balance of the 5 year term). Conditions and exclusions apply, see Warranty | Volkswagen Owners | Volkswagen Australia. Your rights under this warranty are provided in addition to, and in some cases overlap with, consumer guarantees under Australian Consumer Law and do not limit or replace them.
Now the question: as this is VW Australia's Special Offers which are a bit better than their MRDP, will individual dealerships go further in discounting MY 2019 Golfs?
Cheers Al
I also looked long and hard at the Skoda Octavia VRS and RS245. Driven a few VRS but diesels. The retention value is poorer for Skoda compared to VW.
I did have a dealer loan car way back in 2010, Golf Wagon but since then have not even been in a MK7 series Golf.
Best forum to go to is the Forum: Mk7 Golf, I have recently!
Cheers Al
