Hey all,


I finally picked up my Golf yesterday and I'm so happy!


Coming from a Subaru WRX I feel like I'm sitting in luxury (as cheesy as it sounds).


It's a 2010 Candy White 3DR 6MT with Sunroof. Exactly the spec I was after!


It has a Stage 1 APR flash and Air Intake. It goes plenty for my needs (my Subaru made 270kw at the wheels on e85 so I've had my "fast car" phase).


I have a bunch of questions already in regards to mods/accessories:


> Golf R LED tail lights - I've found some OEM replica sets on eBay which are priced well ($350 the set) by DEPO. Does anyone have experience with these non genuine sets?


> HID lights - how hard is it to retrofit a HID/Xeon (I don't know what the correct term is) headlights? My old Subaru had these and Halogen bulbs feel a bit antiquated.


> Golf R rear splitter and central exhaust - this might cop some flak for being "poseur" but I've always loved the central exhaust exit on the R series. I'm not going to be putting R badges on so don't fret. I saw these kits that looked quite nice. Has anybody done the conversion?


> Front Lip kit - I feel the front would look perfect with a lip. Do VW make them, or what are some reasonably priced lips on eBay?


> white LED interior/plate lighting - any recommended kits? Or just whatever is floating on eBay?


> Bluetooth for my RCD-510. Are these heinously expensive, and who can install them? To be able to use hands free with my iPhone would be perfect.


> Pads/Rotors need to be replaced soon. I hear DBA T2 Slotted Rotors and Remsa Brake Pads are recommended. Best suppliers and installers in Sydney? Someone mentioned a place in QLD for supplying.


> Engine mount kit. Any recommendations? Are upgrades worth it or just stay OEM? I was told that mine are showing wear.


> Roof Racks. Any recommended brands? I had Thule on my Subaru which were nice but hooked to the roof rails. I don't have rails now. I have a Thule bike attachment that I'd like to still use.


I've also been told of things to check:


> DV (Diverter Valve) must be change to latest revision even running stock. Any threads that outline what exactly I'm looking for here?
> Possible faulty Coil packs (as above)
> Weak PCV (what is this?)
> Cam Follower (how do I check this?)
> Broken intake ducting (I think the silicon attachment from the air intake has split, is that what is being referred to here?)
> Cam lobe wear (again, how can I check this?)


Anything else I should check? The car has 140k km but full service history and drives like a dream! I just want to make sure she stays 100% : )


Sorry for the questions and I'm sure I could search further for more info so no stress on answering them.
