New to the Forum: mk4 Golf and 1975 Kombi

    Greetings all,

thanks for having me as part of the forum.

I've just had the good fortune to purchase myself a new daily driver:

1999 Mk4 Golf 'Rally' edition GL.
    It has a 5-speed and 1.6 litre's of 4 cylinder fury!

I'm absolutely chuffed with the purchase and with only 103,000 km's on the clock the thing drives like new.

By other ride is a 1975 Type 2 Microbus aka 'Murray'

The golf is about to cop a few mods: 18" wheels, upgraded head unit & heavily tinted windows, so i'm sure i'll have a few questions for the watercooled world.

    Thanks for reading,
    Matt

    Thanks, I'm down south.

A mate of mine used to be a tinter, so he'll hook me up. I'm going 5% on the golf! (the kombi has 20%).

just picked up a new head unit for the Golf. Kenwood KMM-X30 Digital Media Receiver.

It has dual USB inputs and I'm going to run the rear input (which is a USB cable) through the ash tray so it can be hidden under the sliding door, that way I can leave a USB plugged in without it hanging out of the front of the unit. I plan on putting a little rubber grommet in there to keep it looking nice.

I also grabbed the 'kenwood to universal' and 'universal to car' wiring adapters for some (hopefully) plug and play installation.

How have other people found the stock speakers handling a head unit upgrade? I'm not after ball tearing sound, but I want to avoid that god awful noise of stressed speakers (like any kid screaming around in mums commodore with the speakers all the way up to 11).

    Cheers
    Matt
