Need help buying a GTI

Hey,
Im currently in the market looking for a mk6 gti DSG and i just wanted some insight on what to specifically look at when inspecting the car, mechanical wise.
What are some common problems? If any.
Another thing is, how true is the criticism/rumours/hate ( i dont what it is ) about the DSG getting wrecked and what not. The things i've read about it and the cost to replace it are terrifying.
How do i know if the DSG is in sound condition whilst inspecting the car?

Pre 2011, be wary of timing chain tensioner. The odd coil here and there, make sure has a good service history, apart from that they are mint
