My Passat has taken up smoking - but only sometimes

Hi. I have a Passat B6 2.0 tai that has started smoking after deceleration/coasting and then accelerating. It doesn't always do it, and it can go for weeks without. It is always accompanied by an exhaust smell in the car. HELP!

Blue smoke? Black smoke? White smoke? etc etc.

I assume you mean its a 2.0 TSI in which case it might be a faulty PCV. Part number is 06H-103-495 I believe but best to check the part number on your current PCV and match it.

    Or do you mean TDI?
