    My first GTI ownership experience

    Hi All,

My name's Chris, found this forum through my dad, who own's a Jetta & found its resources invaluable.

After some time spent researching and saving, I have bought myself a GTI

My ride is a MK6 2010, Carbon Steel four door auto beast, and I love it (even if it's pre loved)
I hunted around and found a great deal based on what I read in many a threads, its got:
    Leather
    RCD510
    Sun Roof
    Park Assist
18' Detroits with Dunlop Sports Maxx
    68k on the odo
    Manifold & timing chain replaced

All in a sleek well kept body

Things I would like to add/mod overtime:
    Bluetooth
    RNS510
Stage 1 tune / Cold air intake / Exhast

In the two months I've had it though, I have come to understand that owning a GTI is a full time experience, but I wouldn't trade it for anything (I came from a 1998 Lancer, such a difference!)

    So far I've:
-Tweaked with VCDS with great success (Alarm lock/unlock, cornering fogs, flashing rears on E Brake etc)
-Had my paint swapped on the rear bumper by a very considerate & anonymous Sydneysider (cut/polished 99% off)
-Replaced the two front horns (they died during heavy Sydney rain) with Euro aftermarkets (VW don't leave you much wire for DIY!)
-Engine Oil leak x 2 (Timing chain cover & Cam sensor)

My latest challenge is the buttons on the steering wheel that control the MFD have broken! The issue for me has been trying to find a replacement aluminum collar with switches vs getting a used GTI steering wheel.
I have been scouring the web for a this part! (5K0998537) If any one had any suggestions or points that would be appreciated!

Any way, looking forward to being part of the community & hopefully going to a Sydney VW meet up or two.
