    MK3 VR6 6 Cylinder Goodness

    Hi all,

    I have recently purchased a VR6. For $2300 I bought happiness.
I previously owned a Polo 6n2 which was granny spec, until the key snapped off which led to me losing the transponder chip. Quoted $800 from VW to replace so thought maybe it is time to retire the polo and move on to something bigger and better.

My VR6 came with Coilovers, BBS rims and brakepads recently changed with redstuff. Engine is immaculate.

Body wise has a lot of work to be done, roof has sun damage to the ****ter, bonnet cable has snapped and a few little bits and pieces.

already spent $250 on the battery as it died on the highway on the way to buying a new one (always had good luck with cars) but that's just the beginning to a long road to recovery for this car.

Ill post photo's once I get home from work!

    cheers

    Welcome
If your battery died while driving on the hwy, then something else is at fault !!
Could be alternator or mmmm... Can't remember rite now lol sorry.
I think there's plenty of places to sort u out in brissy.

I had a guy from Marshall Batteries come save me haha he tested the alternator to be sure and it wasn't that... hopefully it isn't something else and was only caused by a dead battery.

Finally got time to take some photos! you can see how poor the paint is, front grille needs replacing as it snapped and bonnet release cable needs replacing. Hopefully tomorrow I get a chance to go to wreckers after work.

Id be very surprised if it was the battery !
Sorry but I still can't think of what it is. I've seen this issue before.

Also the last 1 or 2 owners are on this forum (not sure if there still active though).
Can only remember one of there names rite now, something like Dark or Darkvr6.
There's a few panels on this car though that came from a very mint mystic blue vr6. The rest was just rubbed down with some liquid to get rid of the rattle can paint.

Your in brissy, so I HIGHLY Recommend u get Ben J (that's his forum name) to sort the paint out.
    Lovely colour that!

Also u can get sample paints and spray cans of your exact colour from the dealership.

Thanks! yea I stumbled across the threads where it had been rattle canned matte black, such a shame because it's such a nice colour.

I had paint mixed up for me and I was able to restore some panels. Going to try cut and polish the two front doors first to see how that turns out as there's light scratches all over which I'm guessing from the previous owner sanding the matte black off but the roof definitely needs a respray as I've only just sanded that back.

Do you recommend any mechanics up here?

Well there's only 1 I've heard of, he's on this forum to.
It's called Alba European or something, he has a black vr6 in the for sale section.

It's best to ask this in the mk3 random thread or just make a thread (I think someone has made one before).

And make a thread on the car, it's good to see its getting some tlc again
