    MK2 GTi Golf Fuel Problems

    Hi everyone,

I bought a MK2 Golf GTi not long ago and am having trouble starting it. Car hasn't been started for a couple of years, and I checked all fluids etc before trying to start. After turning over the motor would stop turning. I removed the spark plugs to find all four pistons are filling up with fuel. I changed two of the injectors with second hand ones I sourced, no change.

I spoke to one of the mechanics at the VW shop in Mitchell today and he said it may be a ECU/electrical issue. I live 60kms out of town and would need to take it in on a car trailer to have it diagnosed.

Can anyone help me telling me what I can check at home - ECU location, other components that might be causing injectors to stay fully open. This is my first time with VW fuel injected cars, used to dealing with Kombi's.

    Thanks
    Eric

Is it K jetronic injection system, if so could be stuck metering head valve caused by old fuel imho.

Thanks Mick, as far as I know it is K Jetronic, I will have a look at the metering head valve in the next couple of days.

There are kits around for repairing the distribution head but they are tricky to put back together, or you could get a reconditioned one but they are a bit pricey.
