    Missing my California ("Eurovan")

    Hi,
Finally joined vwwatercooled after dipping in now and again to mine your nuggets.

I am the very nostalgic former owner of a VW California (in the US called a "Eurovan", I presume all know what it is--a factory build Westphalia VW modern camper van, T4/5 based). I bought my California in Geneva, Switzerland about 10 years back, where I lived and worked for about 20 years. I left for what I thought was 2 years O/S assignment and loaned a friend my California (couldn't sell it!). But then ended up moving to Oz about 2 years ago. Finally sold my California to my friend, thinking I'd get another here. She lets me use it anytime I'm in Europe (not yet gone, but I will.) Sadly, I found out Californias are not sold here, and the VWs that are fitted out, are wildly expensive...
So the dream now is to somehow fill that void in my life.

Ideally, want now to get a T5, lwb, diesel, 4motion--then pop a pop-top in, and add a fridge and cooker, and a back bench seat to open flat, then a back section at the same height as the fold flat bench seat, for the rest of the "bed". That's my dream.

Ok, I'm no longer made of money, and would like to get it before my kids move out, so we can have some great times and create some memories, like we did when we had the California...

So, I'm open to all for ideas. Any other California/Eurovan addicts out there? Any hope they will ever get here? Yes, if you heard from someone about moving the steering wheel on a California from the left to the right, that was probably me calling you. I still dream of bringing mine over here. But I think it would be hard. Anyone out there ever actually do it? I saw a few Vdubbers on this site talk about doing it, from the UK though, so less problems of conversion.

That's me. Thanks for letting me join.

    Welcome to the forums

Unfortunately VW never sold the California down here, all campers have been based on Australian companies, the most recognised being Trakka campers. Others have emerged such as KEA & Sunliner etc.

    Good Luck with you ambitions.
