Hello everyone, I'm not super techy or up speed with the latest auto developments, but I love my Skoda Octavia and am hoping to connect with other like minded people. I found this community because I was googling like a crazy person and came across it. I liked what I saw. I'm having weird issues with my car (it's a vintage 2011 - ha ha) and Skoda Dealership/Service have left me high and dry. I thought the almighty Google may be my saviour. Lovely to meet you all and I look forward to seeing if anyone has had the same issue I'm having - it is really strange. Cheers D
I bought my 2011 Skoda Octavia wagon (Auto/Diesel) new in 2013. Recently the Columbus navigation system has given up. But rather than do it gracefully, it now plays a booming base sound through the speakers and the console is either off, frozen on, or flashing. Even when we turn the car off, the booming base sound still continues. It's approximately $3k to get a new system for this 7 year old car (don't want to spend that). Is there anywhere I can get a reconditioned system to replace it versus buying new?
Skoda have put me in touch with a someone called Volkwerke and they are trying to find out if I can have a reconditioned VW system as a replacement. They can't find out any details because the person who may know (in Donvale)doesn't seem to return phone calls. I've been dealing with this problem for over 2 weeks and the booming sound is unbearable - it makes me feel nauseous.
Skoda tried to upgrade the software but this didn't work, hence the recommendation to Volkwerke.
If anyone has any suggestions, please reach out.
Happy Iso everyone in VIC. Stay strong.
