Hi everyone, my name is David and I will be purchasing the new Tiguan 162 TSI Highline with Driver Assist and R line option when it is released here (Sydney, Australia) in 2017.

I am joining this forum to draw upon the wealth of experience and knowledge of VW automotive equipment.

My current drive is a Nissan X Trail that I will pass over to my son.

My background in motor cars stretches all the way back to 1968 when I hotted up a 1952 Morris series MM side valve.

Later in 1975 I added a turbocharger kit to my new Toyota Celica and got involved in club motor competition. (The bug had well and truly bitten.) The Celica cost $3,753 on road in 1974 and I spent over $5,000 on the motor alone and well over $50,000 over the 10 years of Celica Car Club of Victoria and inter-club competition.

If you are interested I can go into more detail. I held the club track records for both Winton and Caulder Park raceways.

I was a pioneer user of turbochargers and have owned a few rapid vehicles over the years.

I started with my 1974 road registered Celica very heavily modified. The next was a 1985 Group 3 Peter Brock Calais. The next was a Mitsubishi Galant VR4.

As you might guess from the above, I appreciate good quality engineering.

I am really looking forward to the Tiguan 162TSI as it will provide me with a nice bit of get up and go along with a very practical road car.

Thank you for having me on board.

David
