    Hi Tiguan 155 4mo new user

    Hi all, new owner of tig 155 4mo dsg , bought used one my13 model.

    What to look for and check as a 150k km old tig. .. everything seem fine. Plan to tune ecu. What to recommend? Will it a big difference after ecu tune ?

    good luck, not many tune the 155. I enjoy the power it has.
    Current - 2015 Tiguan 155 R-Line.
    Previous - Jetta MkV 147 Turbo, Viezu Raceday mapped, Carbonio CAI, Quad Exhaust System, R8 Coil pack, Whiteline Swaybar, GTi Steering wheel with paddles, Alloy pedals, RNS510 & Leather.

    Hi and welcome!

    I would be checking the service history for a start and making sure it is up to date.

    Also at that age a good carbon clean of the valves may be in order.

    Stage 1 tune is a noticeable improvement - bigger change in a 125/132TSI as they start off from a lower base but end up at the same spot.

    Regular services beforehand, and some tensioner tighten... Decarbo you mean? Is that effective to bring back some loss power and what is the damage usually.

    Carbon build-up on the valves leads to reduced performance.

    This is at around 200,000km:

    That is horrible build up !! Usually the clean up process require top overhaul, or just gas or liquid injection into chamber while engine is still running ? How much will it cost ? Thks.

    No it's taking the intake off and removing the deposits either by scraping them off or using walnut blasting.

    Not sure on the cost but I'd get your engine checked to see if it's necessary. If it's done a lot of highway km it may not be so bad, however a lot of short trips will make for bad build-up.

    Got it. Other than carbon, what else should be check? Piston ring, rod ? Heard after high mileage, lub oil level drop fast, something like 2 to 3k km per 0.5 - 1L top up ... Thks .
