Just bought a red Tiguan 132TSI with SatNav and not much else. Plan to add reverse camera and possibly chip it hopefully to get rid of the hesitation off the line. Wouldn't mind a GTI steering wheel and front seats but not sure of compatibility. Have noticed it is quite reluctant to change down from 6th gear when going around 60 km/h which makes it feel a bit sluggish around town. Any advise on these points is much appreciated.
Living on the Gold Coast and always been a car nut. This is my first VW although I worked at Audi and VW for awhile and have driven most recent cars in the line up. Favourite is the SQ5 but a V8 S5 would be fun for the weekend.
What year? Is it auto or DSG? If yours is DSG than I can recommend a DSG tune to improve the shifting/ shift points.
Also a stage 1 tune makes a big difference but may not fix the hesitation.
For response off the line a Sprintbooster can help, though it can make fine throttle control a little more difficult.
Reverse camera is good but running the wires through the boot hinge is a bit of a pain. Suggest just going with the basic unit rather than the one with moving lines as this is a lot more complex to set up and calibrate.
GTI wheel with paddle shifters is a nice touch. I haven't done a seat upgrade. Sports seats on the 155TSI are great if you can find some of these - not sure if the GTI/R seats are a direct swap.
