hey guys,
i just have a question regarding redlining an mkvi golf gti. I took it for a drive today and planted my foot and noticed that it hit the 6k redline and changed into 3rd. Its a dsg. Just wanted to get peoples opinion on redlining... would this do any damage if car is at correct operating temp?
thanks
If you move your DSG into 'S' (Sport) mode, and push the accelerator down past the kickdown switch, you'll actually find your GTI will accelerate to 7000 in some cases. As to whether or not that causes damage... well, i'll let you know if a few months, because i do it a lot.
I'm inclined to believe VW would not program the DSG to do anything that would damage the engine in the short-term. However if you drive your car to the max constantly then engine wear and tear will come sooner.
