GOLF GTi MK6 MY2010 Strange smell in cabin after AC was used

Hi All,
My Gti has done about 15k and i have noticed very strange smell in cabin need to drive for about 10 min with windows down and close all air went smell stops and reappears occasionally .Just wandering has anyone has similar experience and is this related to Pollen filter. And if it is pollen filter how do i replace it.

Pollen filter is accesible above the front passenger foot well form memory.

I believe the smell comes from bacteria that grow in the air con vents due to condensation.
Best bet is just to turn off the system about 1km from home so it has time to warm up.

Can be remedied by spraying Glen 20 into the aircon vents.
