Angry Gday ALL from a fustrated 103TDI broken TIGUAN --- DPF (30,000km only :( )

    Hi all

    The title says it all.

Been googling non stop last week trying to get what, how the ..... F this could happen.
Financially this is crippling as our car is low K's fastidiously looked after and serviced.

    cheers

Sorry to hear you have DPF issues.

How old is the car? I'm guessing from your comments that it's outside warranty.

It may be that the low km has actually been the problem if the car has been used for predominantly short trips. Though having to replace the DPF after 30,000km would probably have to be some sort of a record.

Have no idea what your on about. Take it to a dealer see what they say, never heard of a DPF going @ 30,000kms, only g450 exhaust pressure sensors which is a cheap fix.

Apparently sensor is fine its the 45g plus reading, plus limp mode plus plus plus
mmmmm still gob smacked on how this came to a head so quickly with the only warning sign being car fan on after a few drives.

I'd be taking it to a good independent workshop for a second opinion if you haven't already.

The statutory warranty should kick in, unless you've used contaminated fuel or wrong oil during servicing. Another thing that will drastically shorten the life of the DPF is the CHEAP tuning boxes. So, if you've done nothing wrong, you should approach the VW dealer or VW head office and ask them to fix it at no cost to you.

We have 2010 and 2012 Tiguans driving only in the city and very short trips too (7km one way or even less) and I don't see the life of the DPF being shortened.

One more hint (probably doesn't apply to you), once you see any warning light on the dash, you need to act asap not weeks or months later. The fault in the memory has a freeze frame data logged and the mechanic will know how long you have been driving after the fault.

I agree with Transporter. With only 30,000km you have statutory warranty rights whether it's in the 3yr VW warranty period or not .

Suggest you go to the dealer & also ring VW Customer assist if the dealer fobs you off or doesn't want to play ball.

I assume you've got a nice stamp in your book every 12 months & your service person has been using 507.00 oil?
