Does torque mount insert cause dog-bone bushing to wear faster?

Guys. I wanna get a torque mount insert for these reasons.
1. I use my tiguan for towing. When under load the twist of drivetrain is strong.
2. Extend the life of other 'regular' engine mounts by reducing drivetrain movements
3. Torque mount needs removal of subframe and press in. I cant do it in my driveway. So make it rigid and will never brake
4. The car little spongy I'd prefer more sporty shifts that I can feel

However that torque mount is connected to another 'dog-bone' bushing. They work together. By making the torque mount more rigid will it make the smaller dog-bone bushing work harder? I dont mind if dog-bone bushing brake as it's under $100 and 5 minutes job to replace.

Also what if I add torque mount insert, and also replace rubber dog bone bushing with the harder poly bushing (with no gap). Will it make the car vibrate like crazy?

What's a good solution?? Should I get torque mount insert and let dog-bone do the hard work and replace every few years?
Or should I replace both and make the package super rigid? I've seen online some people replace both with harder bushings. That's gonna be a HARD ride.
I definitely dont want the big torque mount to brake as I'll have to bend over at the mechanic.

I would not replace the rubber with a harder silicone section, I did this on my Golf R and it was horrible. I put up with it for a week or two and then took it out. Vibration all the time (idle / slow speed / high speed.....ALL the time) and even worse when you have the air conditioning on.

An aluminium insert from CTS or 034Motorsports etc is the best compromise. Basically zero vibrations and tightens the movement up significantly.

I see. Looks like im putting an torque mount insert and leave the dogbone bushing stock. If the vibration is that intense

It will do much the same job but they are harder to install and if you want/need to remove it for any reason they just break. The aluminium ones can be removed without damaging them and either sold or used on another car.

But for actual functionality the Superpro will be the same.

interestingly, they make 3 different types, Diesel, Sport/Fast road use, and Competition.... model number 70k 80k 90k, is the Diesel version the softest one of the 3?


honestly, i am quite liking the smoothness of the TDI DSG, it's very smooth for a diesel, don't really feel the shift, and when cruising it tend to go for highest possible gear and revs under 1300rpm to save fuel, even at that low RPM vibration is minium.

biggest reason i want it is cos i tow the boat every week, would like to extend the life of the torque mount (towing will kill it fast). there is no way i'd able to remove control arms, drop the subframe, disconnect sway-bar, steering rack and hydraulic press out that mount if it break. On my driveway...

do u reckon Diesel version is the softest of the bunch? since the numbers go up as it move towards racing version im guessing they will make 'Diesel' version softest to compensate the extra vibration from diesel engine???

maybe i can trim it down with my Dremel to make it not as tight fit so it dampens more vibration?? but when i dive with boat at the back it will still limit the 'twist' ? ?

U would think diesel version is a little different as not many people do drag and track with diesel, mostly towing

The 70, 80 and 90 ratings refer to the durometer of the silicone/rubber used. The smaller the number the softer (eg 70 is the softest).

Because diesel engines are not as smooth/refined as a petrol engine, this would be why they recommend the softest version for the diesels so as to not introduce any more vibrations than necessary.

I had the dog bone mount in my Golf Cabriolet... it's now in a box on the shelf. The vibrations were terrible at idle, in my case the sun visor would vibrate and make a terrible tapping/buzzing noise so it came out pretty quickly. It did seem to work, just the compromise in a daily driver were too much.

Yes this is what I found when experimenting with the mounts when I had my Mk6 R a few years back. The poly insert was ok, but then stupidly I decided to try the HPA mount which is a complete replacement and it was absolutely terrible. So that was swiftly removed and then I ended up with one of the aluminium inserts from CTS which was the best out of all of them in my opinion.

Thank u. Im happy now I think will be very happy with the 70. Previously I had the 80 version on older PD diesel(BKD). Vibration is bearable but considering the CR diesel is alot smoother than PD and now I got the 70 model, its gonna be best of both world! Happy towing now!
