Considering buying low km GTI MK5 - MELBOURNE - need some advice !

    Hey fellow petrol heads

Considering buying a GTI MK5 (with less than 100k km) just as a fun little car and doing a few basic mods, need advice on:

    SERVICING:

Who know these cars best in Melbourne and charges reasonably, including DSG service?
Can basic service like spark plugs, oil change, other filters be fairly easily done yourself if you know a bit about cars or does it need a pro?
What's the timing belt change worth?

    MODS:

Is there a reasonably cheap way of getting a stage 1/2 tune with launch control down in Melbourne? Can't really justify paying $1500 + for the APR software upgrade. Perhaps there's a DIY method ?

I am planning basic mods, like FMIC, turbo back exhaust, higher boost, bigger fuel pump (if need be)

any advice would be much appreciated

    Welcome to the forums mate

If your in the south east suburbs of Melbourne, Simon at Peerless Automotive is ace!

He did my R and his knowledge and service was amazing. ive recommended him to all my VAG mates.

Plenty of other options - have a look in the tuning sub-forum. DNA tuning is a good starting point

I used to think I was anal-retentive until I started getting involved in car forums
