Bluetooth not working.

I recently purchased a 2009 Tiguan with upgraded sat nav. the car comes with bluetooth. After doing a factory reset of the system I try connect to the bluetooth but no 'Volkswagen Car' can be seen. The only name the keeps popping up is 'BT phone'. I try connecting and it pops up asking me to put in a pin. the problem is that the car is not showing any code. I have tried generic ones like 0000 and 1234, only to my dismay. Any suggestions? would love some help. thx

Whilst it is possible to change from the default 0000/1234 bluetooth password, this is hardly (if ever) done.

If you can't figure it out then you can change the BT password in the BT module via diagnostics software like VCDS or OBD11 etc.

Thank you for your help. whilst conducting some research I understand that it is normal for the car, when you click on it (the cars bluetooth) on your phone, will display a pin on the display. Is this only on newer models or is my system broken? also. do you know where I could acquire the cable to be able to use diagnostic software (VCDS)?,

The acknowledge pin is in the instrument cluster if it's a newer Bluetooth module.
For once off, just give someone near you a six-pack to have them use their diagnostic software.
Otherwise if youre interested vcds can be purchased from the ross-tech website or their local distributor.
