    amarok heating up

Hi, my name is haackie and I am retired. I have owned a 2017 v6 amarok ultimate for 2 years which I purchased second hand. It came with some extras already fitted, Arb bullbar with driving lights and light bar, Arb summit canopy, 17 x 9 wheels with BFG Tyres, UHF radio and tow bar pack. I have fitted rhino roof bars to canopy and cab, Arb snorkel, catch can, transmission oil cooler, side steps, storage drawers in canopy, agm battey and solar panel on rack on canopy. It has run perfectly since I bought it but some problems have popped up. I hope some of the forum members may be able to help me with. Thanks all

    G'day Haackie and welcome.

Is the car overheating while towing or even if you are not pulling a trailer? A quick Google reveals that **some** other Amarok owners with the ARB bullbar and lights have experienced overheating due to the bullbar and lights restricting airflow to the engine - but these concerns are mainly when towing a decent load (eg 2.5 tonnes) over hilly terrain.

Others have complained about a failed thermostat (stuck closed or only slightly open) which causes the engine to get hotter than it should.

Some have suggested that putting the transmission into manual mode and controlling the gears yourself has helped the coolant temperature stay more stable (when towing).
