2021 Amarok Highline - UHF Install

Morning All

New to this forum, but been a long time Rok owner over the years, with various 2.0 versions, and now the V6-580.

I'm in the process of working through the best install strategy for UHF in the vehicle, and hoping you guys might have some advice or learnings to impart!

I'm looking to install the GME 370 XRS unit, which includes a speaker in the base radio unit, as well as the hand piece.

Couple of questions:

- GME recommend locating the radio in the drivers footwell somewhere, preferably up out of the way, but ensuring the speaker points out into the footwell to assist audio. Wondering if anyone has mounted a unit like this in the footwell, and found a good spot? Trying to avoid drilling into the vehicle plastics....and keen to keep it out of the way of feet, etc.

- RJ45 Passthrough Adapter: The handset has the ability to use an RJ45 passthrough, via a dash mounted plug. This would make a really neat install,.....but GME dont do a "standard" passthrough socket for the Amarok. (only Toyotas, Isuzu, etc.) Has anyone managed to find a UHF RJ45 Passthrough socket for the Amarok?

You might need to resort to one of the universal RJ45 passthroughs as it appears nobody makes one for the Amarok unfortunately: RJ45 Universal Round Pass-Through Connector

Either that, or you will have to custom make something to fit somewhere suitable.

Yep, i think i might be stuck using a generic fitting and working something out. Potentially 3D printup something custom.
Disappointing that people like GME make adapters for pretty much every 4x4...bus miss the Amarok!!

Most people use the round adapter fitted in one of the 12v lighter/power ports.



I have seen a good instal using the round pass through adapter at the back of the bits tray under the head unit.

Most people mount the unit in this void beside the glove box, there is a similar one on the drivers side, but less room behind as it’s full of fuse boxes and compartments.
