Talking 2006 Polo GTI (work in progress)

Hey everyone. After two years owning my Polo GTI its starting to get a bit rough around the edges and is in the garage slowly getting fixed up. Its a super fun car and I love it, but sometimes I think VW designed them only to last for certain 10 years then start to fall apart :/ but it is what it is and its still the most fun thing I have driven. Maybe I will rat rod it or do the whole VW roof tray thing with it.

Mines a Polo 2006 9n3 GTI in dark metallic blue.

    Interior:
Headliner recovered as it was sagging
Door cards recovered as they sagged
    Dreaded cracked dash
    IPod connector

    Exterior:
Clear coat is fading on bonnet and roof.
Roof racks to get the surfboards to the beach where it sits in the sun fading
Lowered on Bilstein Coil-overs (makes it feel like its on rails but not so super hard that it hurts)
    Aftermarket wheels (17's)

What im doing currently / what needs doing:
resolving dash Christmas tree of lights
    Auxiliary air pump fixed
    Ignition coil
    Brake pads
ABS speed sensor (ESP currently not working causing Christmas tree effect)

So thats me and my Polo...

    Welcome to the forum mate.

I hope you didnt go to the expense of a new pump. I could have done you a tune to delete the fault code and make 50hp.

No haven't fixed the pump yet, it works it's just super noisey. Sounds like a jet taxiing on a run way. And generally only hen you are idling cold.

Just trying to figure out what abs sensors to get, but will try doing a sensor clean first as I have heard they they can get super crusty with brake dust and stop working and a good clean can bring them back to life.

Sambb in Sydney is selling a pump if you want to get a quieter one. SAI pump polo gti 1.8t You'll probably find yours is full of water. Because the combi valve failed. Which means you need a new combi valve as well.

What's the fault code for the sensor say. implausible signal I can see how a clean might work. Open circuit not so likely to help.

Will check it for water... Still trying to figure out how I even get the thing out... It's pretty tight in there.

I've got mine still also if you want it. Removed it from my silver polo, was working as it should when removed, only removed it as the tune allowed me too and I wanted the extra room.

Have it back on the road again after replacing the shonky coil. Cleared the engine code and no engine faults found.

The ABS ESP lights turns out that what I thought was a wheel speed sensor going was actually only a blown ABS fuse!

The VAGCOM code that came up pointed to messed up ABS pump. Did some searching and found the ABS fuse on these things blows pretty easy. So off to buy a new fuse and it should be right again

    On to the next fault
