Fingers crossed it all goes smoothly.
Remember to check over everything electronic (stereo, windows, lights etc and make sure they all function)

Hi Guys, got the Tiggy.....and WOOOOWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!! Its such a fantastic car.

I went over the car with a fine tooth comb. The guys nearly gave me the car without the mats or the iPod cable...but luckily they had them in the show room so I got both thrown in for nothing along with a really nice bottle of Red - not that they promote drink driving.

The only thing that they gave me trouble over was the Nav DVD....which I insisted on and they got that ordered in.

One question I had for the forum however was around the radio codes. The pre-delivery guy insisted that the RNS 510 uses a rolling code security chip that is synched with the car immobiliser. He reckoned the only time I would ever need the code would be if the unit was removed and put into another car prior to synching it. Not sure how far thats true.

Other than that everything seemed in order. I will indeed have a lot of reading to do over the long weekend between drives

I got my RNS510 off ebay and didn't require a code.
So i can't actually help you with that one.

Good to know you got the ipod cable and mats.

Good luck reading the manual, it's a mish-mash of information.

    Haven't heard that one before.

But even if true, what if you wanted to sell your unit later on?

So I'd still insist on it, just like the map disk.

The guy only needs to look it up on the computer.

Congrats BMan!! It sounds like you're really loving the car! Gee... 6 months is a mighty long time to wait!

I was told the exact same thing when picking up our Tg last week re. codes for the RNS510. I didn't end up insisting - I thought it was unlikely we would want to put the unit in another car. Here's to hoping VWA will provide some support if the day comes when we need the codes for whatever reason. The service guys said they could easily ring up VWA for them.

I totally agree with team_v re. the 'mish mash' of information in the owners manual. Some of it is simply irrelevant. The entire book is also studded with warnings and cautions, which get somewhat tiresome after a while. Worst of all, you come across certain little features that gets you excited. Then when you go to check it out on your car, you realise it's probably for models designated for another market. Talk about getting ones hopes up! One such example was the section that showed how you could draw in the mirrors from the inside & use side mirror heaters. I also found my MDI could not get the passenger side mirror set to tilt downwards (to look at the kerb) when reverse gear is engaged. A bit frustrating...

Having said all that, we're absolutely loving the car!! Sounds like you are the same
