    Whistle noise from tig

Hi I'm getting this whistle noise from under my bonnet.

It's not high pitch like a scream on anything but at around 50-70kms it's sort of like someone blowing over the top of a glass bottle sort of sound.

I have a 132 apr stg 1 tune so don't want to take it to VW even though it's under warranty...

I'm wondering should I take it to the tuner to see if they know or should I get the tune removed then go to VW?

    Cheers

Take it back to your APR dealer, probably the PCV system.

If you've got an APR tune you can try turning it back to "stock" tune and see if that fixes your issue.

I tried that and it seemed actually worse.

It's not all the time but it's becoming more often than not and I THINK it's more noticeable who the car is warm (as in full running temp)

I actually got so bad the other day I stopped checked all outside the car thinking there may have been something stuck that was causing it to make the noise.

I'll book it back in with my tuner to have a look.

Regarding the PCV thing - can they diagnose if it's broken or do they have to hear it?

You could probably do it yourself. https://www.google.com.au/webhp?sour...BAD%20pcv%20vw

Are you certain it's from under the bonnet ? because a number of us have found this sound being caused by the holes in the roof rails and there is a set of rubber grommets available that fit in there and take the noise away !!

    Cheers

Agreed with Derek; were the noises happened in wet? Mine also makes similar noises at the specified speed during wet conditions.

Ahhh, the good ole roof rail glass bottle noise. If it's happening while off the gas as well then I rekon you need some roof rail plugs Mine pissed me off so much when I found out that the noise you describe was a simple fix.

Wow hadn't even thought about this. I'm pretty sure it's under the bonnet but I could be wrong.

I'll grab some tape and see if that helps but it certainly sounds like a glass bottle noise

    Cheers
