Had a similar problem in a Hyundai and found the cause to be that the air conditioning outlet tube had come loose under the dash.
Hi I have a Tiguan 2010. Both the passenger side front seat and back seat foot area have dampness.
We have removed the front seat and with a sponge taken a lot of water out....it does smell like water but hard to tell.
We do not believe this is related to a leaking sunroof as it doesn't seem like there is any water dampness around the skirting.
Anyone experienced this before please? Struggling to get more of the carpet removed to check further and difficult to see in the engine.
Thank you.
Johnno

I have the same issue, for me it is from either when it rains heavy, or when I wash the car.
My mechanic said the rubber tubes where the water runs off from the sunroof may be blocked or ripped and may be expensive to repair.
It gets wet under the front sun visor inside roof and also at the front seats at the bottom near the speakers.
Would love to hear of any cheaper alternatives.
In my case, water that would trickle through the door innards from tiny gaps in the rubber at the base of the side windows would actually trickle over the door sills & onto the rubber floor mats. There are small holes to allow water to drain through. If my car was parked on a lean, I would end up with around a cup of water on the rubber mat. It began when I had a broken side window that was replaced with a non genuine one. After a few complaints about the water getting in, I was given a genuine window, & the problem vanished.
