At the end of the video when I put pressure more quickly, you can hear the bike chain sound.

I guess I will have to take it to my mechanic as my warranty just ran out.

Definitely doesn't sound like waste gate rattle - get it looked at and if it's a known issue you may still be able to get it covered under warranty.

Does anyone know if there is a 5yr warranty on powertrain ? As my 3yr warranty just ran out I'm afraid of the cost to fix this problem.
Also was told maybe the engine may need to be replaced? If it's the chain tensioner.

    Bugger

I hope VW come to the party as it's a known fault/issue with this engine.

To be continued over here: CAM chain tensioners failing..... TSI engines.

Update - I bought the clip from Ali Express as mentioned earlier in the thread. Installed this afternoon, rattle / cage being dragged behind car sound is now gone completely. Took 20 minutes to complete with jack and car stands. Jack did need propping up a bit with a couple of heavy duty concrete tiles.

I went to the vw stealer on friday and was told to install the clip was $106.45 because I already had the clip. Sound correct? Anyway booked it in for this morning and while I was waiting they told me now it will cost approximately $500 because it was a 4 motion and it would take 3hrs to install because they had to remove parts to get to it? Since my warranty ran out 2 month ago they said they will contact VW and get back to me. Does this sound like a load if sh#t!

Unfortunately... yes it does sound like they're taking you for a bit of a ride (or they don't know what they're talking about).

Probably should have got it done while your car was still under warranty. If you started the process while it was under warranty you should still be able to claim it.

Afterwards it's up to VW and how much goodwill they give you.
