Thanks Team_v and DieselV... Yea.. In terms of daily comfort the 245/45 sounds a little more practical. Just wondering if the 255/40 would jutt out a little from an 8.5" wide rim?

Also, I reckon between these two sizes, the comfort difference should be quite minimal?

The carbonblack website's pretty good too team_v thanks for that. I can see how the difference sizes of tyres compare w the original.

Just had a look at the Option1Garage too. Thanks for that. I guess the only brand that might be enticing wld be the Kumho's ey? I wldnt mind it, but was also thinking of other brands as options.

Well that depends on the offset on your wheels.

How do we look at load and speed rating? Must they be the same as original? If not, how do we know what's a good replacement...?

How do we look at load and speed ratings? Do we have to stick to the original? If not, how do we change it?

Well the idea is to get at least the same or if not higher.

You can only match or go up from the original.
To get speed and load rating you have to contact a tyre supplier.
I believe mine are rated as 102Y but the originals were 96 or 98 I believe..

I don't know if tirerack actually allow credit card purchases in Australia so you may have to do a money transfer to them.
Maybe check on that before you go ahead with a purchase.

Option1Garage deal with kumho as they are more of a Jap spec garage but tyres are universal.

When purchasing from TireRack also enquire about the DOT and where the tyres are actually manufactured.

Ideally you'd want all four corners to be roughly the same age and origin.

Have seen some threads in the past (on other forums) whereby you do get what you pay for and why the prices are so cheap.

Oh ok... Thanks for the additional info on any potential purchases on payments w Tirerack. Might need to check that first.

So from a Y rating... Does it have to stick w Y as well?
