Have bitten the bullet and decided to go with the Bridgestone's... it was a tough decision between those and the CS4's.

Hey, I went with the Bridgestone Potenza RE002's (245/45/1 just a couple of days ago and all I have to say is HOLY COW THEY ARE SO MUCH BETTER THAN THE GOODYEARS I HAD BEFORE!

EDIT: They are 18's not 1

So far im happy with d handling and grip during dry...as for wet condition since i havent push to the max and dont intend to either...so far satisfied with speed under 130km/hr...
im now on 14000km so far the thread still has 75-80% according to my foreman...
Im interested to know more about the yokohama n kumho since i saw good reviews from users all over...hows the thread lifespan? anyone here can give feedbacks?

17,000km on the kumho KU31's without babying them.
I expect to get between 25,000-30,000 out of them before i need to get some new rubber.

I had khumo ecsta SPT (KU31?) & found they became annoyingly noisy once they got below 50%.

I know I should be reading the whole thread before asking this and I apologize if this has been asked many times (I wld suspect)... But there seems to be a time gap in between.

I'm looking for new tyres for 19"x8.5".... Is there a 'best' fitment tyre size? I'm thinking of something fatter (for grip and looks) and a good compromise between comfort n handling.

    255/40 or 255/45?
    245/40 or 245/45?

In terms of brands...? I know Kumho's, Bridgestone's are favorites amongst regular members here.

I have also read that Tirerack is a good place to start. That website really has heaaaaps of tires!! And I'm getting myself confused! Seems a lot of ppl are getting good bargains there! And yes I must rem abt the duties and taxes if it's more than A$1,000.

Well, since VW fits 255/40 R19 96V or 96W tyres from the factory if you order the optional 19" wheels, I'd go with that.

I had 245/45's fitted to my 19 x 8.5 wheels and they fitted fine.
I now have them on my 19 x 8's and they still fit.

If you want comfort a higher sidewall is a must.

Tirerack is okay but i have heard Option1Garage do a good deal on the kumho's (around $200 per corner) so it works out pretty close to tirerack.

The main thing you want to get right is the load rating and the speed rating.
Also some of the american tyres might be older/winter tyres.
