This indicates auto transmission losses are 6-15% higher than manuals.
This doesn't pass the common sense test. If average power usage during normal driving is 30kW, then the auto is losing an extra 3kW over a manual. That's a lot of heat dissipated, even with a transmission cooler. Worked hard, putting out av 100kW (eg towing up Adelaide Hills), you'd be looking at 10kW, which would fry an egg on your console.

Last on the losses from me ....

If the loss was a fixed number, say 27kw as on the 125TSI (98kw atw) then would you have to be making at least 27kw before the car would move? That also just does not make sense .... .... Can't have fixed at the top end but not at the bottom end ? Constant % across the rev range makes much more sense ?

But as clip said, don't break you head over it, at the end of that day what really matters is how much power is being put to the ground (atw kw) and how the driver uses that ....

    Tiguan specific coilovers

    http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=4740417

    Current Specs:
Adjustable Height at all 4 corners.
    Progressive springs.
Easily accessible 20-click Damping adjust takes it from just over stock firmness to track-ready stiff.
-I was able to adjust all 4 corners in under 90 seconds, could probably pull that off at a long red light.

Minimum drop of ~65mm. (So thats 29.75" f2f stock, down to ~27.25" f2f)

    $799!
(Tiguan is not listed yet, use MkV R32 and add "Tiguan" in the "Special Instructions" area.)
The kit is a ton of fun. Handling is tighter, center of gravity is (obviously) lower and the handling drastically improves thanks to that and reduces body roll.
It's like a preview of the R.20.. just... taller!

Pretty reasonable price considering H&R springs are about 500AUD.
These would be about 1000AUD or so?

Passes the common sense test to me. Auto is a bit over 10% beyond the manual in acceleration (8.1 versus 9.1 sec for 0-100) and almost 10% on fuel use too (9.3 versus 10.1 L/100 in fuel use). Slight diff in gearing, but clearly, there are more losses. There is a lot more transmission fluid in an auto compared with a manual, and it does get hot - for a start it requires a cooling system where a manual doesn't. Without their own cooling system or pipes running thru the radiator autos' would overheat.

last one from me on this too.

I was also looking at these VMAXX coilovers too V. I've read varying reports about them and they seem ok on the whole but personally I would be reluctant to try them. It's up to the individual of course.

Yeah, I know what you mean.
the KW V3 of H&R coilovers would be the prefered option however they will be over twice as expensive.

I would consider these ones as an option however as they are pretty cheap.

Then again, i am going with the Zenec stereo and no one uses that either lol.

Could well be worth a try with the V3s being around $1800 USD. I just worry about ride quality, i've had firmly sprung cars in the past and you certainly wouldn't call them comfortable.

Personally I believe that coilovers is a waste on a Tiguan. Its not meant to be that sort of car.

Sport suspension, lowered, is as far as I'd take it. Even then the ride is bordering on unpleasant. Its great for handling and almost eliminates bodyroll but the ride suffers.

The Tigs ride quite hard already and taking it too far would ruin the car IMO.

Spend you money on other performance enhancing features and don't mess with the suspension too much ....

Other than that, hope to see you (finally) at some of the Brissy drives in the Tig ...

I was initially leaning towards just the H&R springs as i would still like to take the tig on some dirt tracks.

I do agree that you lose the functionality if you get the coilovers though as the minimum drop is 65mm and there is another 60mm that it can be lowered.

Might just stick with the springs and spend the rest on other go fast bits.
The downpipe might be a more useful item to splurge on.

Can't wait for delivery so i can take it for a spin and catch up with the vw/tig cruises.
