Hi everyone,
The wait for our new Tig is almost over... almost
Tilly Tig (don't blame me for the name! The kids had a role in naming her AND its ganna be the Mrs' car) has finally reached port and is currently sitting on the dock waiting on Customs to give it the once over.
Pending Customs release time frames and however many extra days my dealer needs to get it ready, we'll be able to receive delivery of the new 125 TSI baby (Yes, I'm a very proud father).
Looking forward to picking it up, to say the least.
Thanks to the great info found in this forum regarding pickup, detailing and car care, Tilly already has a check list to meet for the initial collection and a 'bath' planned for when she gets home. Again, thanks to posts & info by DMS & Team_V, I've hit up Car Care Products and gotten everything I need to give the Tigs paint job that first layer of protection.
Procedure will involve an initial spray down with a high pressure hose, two bucket cleaning method using Dodo Juice pH Neutral Maintenance Shampoo with a Microfibre Multi Purpose Mitt, followed by a clay using the Mint Grey Clay Bar Kit, dry down with a Waffle Weave Microfibre Drying Towel and then to finish off with the Nanolex Premium Spray Sealant. That should only take me about two days...
Following that, I've got a couple of little custom cosmetic mods to attach. Remember spokey dokeys!? Well I couldn't find any to fit the rims, so I had to go with something else instead
Lots of other plans in motion and I haven't even picked it up yet, though the idea is to spread them out a bit (have to at least wait for the engine to be run in for stage 1)
So far on the to do list (probably in this order):
- Window Tint
- RNS510
- APR ECU Upgrade
- Cold Air intake
- Rear Sway Bar
And then after that, the wish list; which includes:
- H&R Springs
- Downpipe
- Haldex Performance Controller (still um'ing and ah'ing about this one)
Also recently found on the APR site that they are doing a K04 Conversion System for the Tig...
The list keeps on growing
Once we pick it up I'll post some photo's (as soon as i work out how)

Good thread!
I'm tracking my new Black 147 as we speak.. Lands in Brisbane on the 22nd.
I want to make sure I give it the right care from the get go so I'm interested in your selection.
Where did you purchase your goodies from?
Wife opted for beige leather (I know, I know) so I will need to add in some leather care to your kit. Any suggestions?
Ok, so i know it's pretty sad, but when i saw these VW Stem Caps, I just had to get em lol
And the smaller antenna was a must too
Thats it for now (until it arrives that is)

Thanks Superviza, nice choice on the 147. If my kids were a few years older we would have done the same.
I am of the same opinion mate, give it the right care from the start.
I sourced all these from Car Care Products / Car Care, Car Wax, Car Polish, Car Covers, Detailing products & more ... based on information and feedback I read in the forum.
They have some great leather care products as well. Try the Duragloss 221 Leather Conditioner and just follow it up every 3/4 months to keep it in good nick.
There is also the Nanolex Leather Sealant which sounds good but I havent seen any feedback on it yet - care to be the test dummy?

I've used most of these , also bought from Carcare products, i also purchased the Nanolex Premium Paint Sealant kit and Dodo Juice Purple Haze wax to top it all off.
As for leather care i have just purchased the Duragloss Leather System Car Care Products / Duragloss / Interior / Leather & Vinyl / Professional Leather System. Am yet to use it but also heard it's pretty good stuff.

Congrats, you're a braver man than I am
Did you end up getting it from Ross Tech in the US or somewhere else?
I thought about it, but figured I would only get myself in trouble changing something I shouldn't and then stuff things up monumentally…
Good luck and let me know how you go
FYI here is a good write up on leather protection / maintenance:

And the image below has also been taken from Car Care Products as well – good Detailing Flow Chart:
Thanks for the info Prodigy, sounds like we’ve got two guinea pigs for the Duragloss – looks like a good kit
Haven’t bought any wax yet as wanna see how the sealant goes first.
Do you use them after each other – i.e. sealant first, wait a few hours, then wax; or are you doing them separately?

vince,
its a lot of work but worth it, just done similar work to my 147, if you are going to all that trouble well worth taking the wheels off and treating them to the Nanolex sealant as well also consider buying the Nanolex car shampoo as it 'tops up' the sealant when you wash- apparently... heres the link to my work !

Yes, I applied the Nanolex and left it for a few hours then applied the wax.
One thing with the Nanolex was i found it quite difficult to buff off, i think the one i bought Car Care Products / Nanolex / Exterior / Paint Sealant / Premium Paint Sealant Kit is slightly different to yours as as the sealant itself isn't a spray. All i know is it took me a fair while to do the whole car.
As for the Dodo Juice wax i highly recommend it if you go down that path, very easy to apply and remove.
