Hi all.
I see that quite a few of you guys use your Tigs off road. How do they handle rough roads in regards to interior rattles. I see that some of the other VW models suffer from rattles and they're only driven on bitumen. Cheers.

Well, I’ve been on the rough stuff a fair amount and cannot say I’ve heard any rattles other than the loose things I had in the cabin. In fact, on rough roads whilst playing CD’s they haven’t skipped once on me, so I think the suspension is impressive and buffers the chances of rattles developing quickly. But to be honest, you’re going to have to ask people that have had their Tigs for a while what problems develop. I don’t think Aus has had them long enough for any definitive answers.

I think the Tig should be right for light offroad. The build quality is much better than others![]()
Also the VW done some extended off road testing in Africa (Namibia)

Well I am just about to take the tig out to Wombeyan caves...(past Bowral and Berrima NSW) From memory it is a long 40 something kms winding gravel track to get there. Great fun...but will certainly test things out!
Will let you know how it handles it!

Hi mate,
agree about dash material and general quality - had four Foresters prior to Tig and biggest reason I changed was quality (or lack thereof) in new ones. I have one annoying rattle in the Tig which I only noticed when I went on dirt road recently which appears to be coming from inside drivers door. Anyone had this or have any ideas? I notice that the mirror adjustment knob seems rather loose and wondering whether there might be a backing nut that might have come undone (or wasn't tightened properly at the factory)?! Short of starting to pull the door apart (which I definitley don't want to do) or taking it back to dealer (which is 1000km away and would probably say there is nothing wrong if I can't replicate it or make it worse like they did on rear seat side cover when they fitted towbar wiring - rant over) am at a bit of a loss
On another (sort of related) topic Transporter, I remember reading somewhere that you have fitted aftermarket TPMS to your vehicles and wondering if you could refresh my memory on what breed and where you got them. Maybe you could even put a heading with link on the "Shortcuts" page (looked and searched but couldn't find it otherwise)Have the indirect monitoring system, but am considering changing wheels/tyres and would like to install direct TPMS then (so I can know "on the roll" what pressures are - pain trying to measure accurately with handheld - specially when reading seems different every time. Yes I know - I do measure them cold and would probably help if I got an expensive guage/inflator, but rather put that money to TPMS)
Cheers

Hi Tiggy1, sounds just like what i had, i tried products on all the rubbers which did nothing, but at my 30000k service they applied a lubricating paste (expensive!) to the door latch/catches which completely resolved the noise. It's kind of like a white-ish drier feeling grease that is still there & working 10000k's later.

No ... that's normal and is part of the design quirks (like bonnet lever on passenger side).
Also the fact that the heater symbol is not in the right spot based on when you turn it on.
